The department of industrial engineering, under the supervision of the ministry of science and research, has been operating since its establishment to meet the basic needs of the industry. Faculty professors have created a platform for collaboration between faculty researchers (faculty members and students), which leads to the development of new knowledge, the implementation of technology required by industries, and the training of human resources with the skills needed by industries.

Every year, a large number of graduate students conduct research on various topics as their theses and theses can be in line with the needs of the industry and useful for them. Therefore, the Faculty of Industrial Engineering receives the defined research needs in the form of industrial thesis/dissertation and encourages students to do the defined industry topics.
Also, by holding a pitch event with one of the country's industries, the faculty of industrial engineering is trying to target the ideas and research done by the graduate students of the faculty and in line with the needs of the industry.

Memorandum of cooperation
Considering the necessity of cooperation between the industry and the university as much as possible, the liaison unit with the industry of the faculty of industrial engineering in the field of drafting our joint cooperation agreement between the industry, the faculty and the university, which means preparing the general framework for mutual and long-term cooperation in the fields of science, research, educational, consulting and technical and engineering services, cooperation and follow-up in order to conclude a memorandum of understanding as soon as possible, has the necessary measures on its agenda. This memorandum often includes specific contractual or executive obligations in order to strengthen the scientific-research fields for the parties as much as possible.

The Industry Relations Unit of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, in cooperation with the Science and Technology Park and the Entrepreneurship Center of Sharif University, has operationalized the support plan for new ideas and startups and welcomes students and graduates to take advantage of these conditions. These supports include introduction to the Sharif Accelerator and the use of the support and services of the Science and Technology Park, the use of the university and faculty support facilities in order to attract financial support, and the use of the physical space and administrative support of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering.
